Butterfly conservation

During the summer of 2024 ‘Butterfly Conservation Scotland’ is aiming to survey the status of an increasingly scarce butterfly in the Scottish Borders, the Small Pearl-bordered Fritillary. We are privileged to have a population of this species at Broughtonknowe, I have carried out the necessary survey work. The importance of protecting the appropriate habitat should give conservation status to the Southern meadow and adjacent woodland.
